18 Written Comments, 4 Speakers, All in Support

Wednesday night's council meeting kept the streak alive. 18 people submitted written public comments and four community members spoke during public comment, every single one in support of keeping the bike lane. Once again, not a single person spoke in favor of removing it.

Meeting after meeting, the message from this community has been the same: keep the bike lane.

The study session is next week

The big one is almost here. On Wednesday, April 8th, the council holds a study session on the Main Street reconfiguration. This is when they'll dig into the details, the data, the options, the path forward.

What we do between now and then matters. What we do on April 8th matters even more.

Show up on April 8th

Wednesday, April 8th at 6:00 PM Medford City Hall, 411 W 8th St.

This isn't just another regular meeting. This is the session where the council focuses specifically on Main Street. They need to see the room full of people who care about safe streets.

If you've been to a meeting before, come back. If you haven't been yet, this is the one.

Bring someone new

Every new face in that room sends a message. Ask a friend, a neighbor, a coworker. The more people who show up on April 8th, the harder it is for anyone to claim this community doesn't care.

Can't make it?

Submit a public comment to PublicComments@cityofmedford.org before the meeting. Written comments go on the official record and they count. As Wednesday proved, written comments are powerful, 18 of them hit the record this week alone.

Here's the recap

Over the last several council meetings, the support has been overwhelmingly one-sided:

  • April 1st: 18 written comments, 4 speakers, all in support
  • March 18th: 6 written comments, 5 speakers, all in support
  • March 4th: 30+ written comments, 14 speakers, all in support
  • February 18th: 15+ speakers, all in support
  • February 4th: 17 speakers, all in support

Nearly 50 downtown businesses have spoken out against returning to the old configuration. Not once has someone shown up to speak in favor of removing the bike lane.

April 8th. Be there.

This is the moment we've been building toward. The study session is our chance to show the council, one more time, that this community wants safe, connected streets.

Wednesday, April 8th. 6:00 PM. Medford City Hall.
