Play Our Latest Game: Is Medford More Bikeable Than That?

We love making games here. They're a great way to raise awareness of Medford's serious walkability crisis in a fun way. Today we added a new game to bikemedford.org.

It's simple: we show you a city, and you guess whether it's more or less bikeable than Medford. Some of these cities are places you've heard of. Some you definitely haven't. Either way, the results are interesting. Also, many of these cities are of similar size to Medford.

How it works

Each round, you see a city with its population, a photo, and a short description. You tap "More Bikeable" or "Less Bikeable" to guess how it compares to Medford's score of 29 out of 100 on the PeopleForBikes City Ratings. Get it right and your streak keeps going. Get it wrong and it's game over.

The sad reality is Medford's score is low. Really low. Cities you'd never expect to be bike-friendly are even more so than Medford. Small towns in Wisconsin, college towns in Iowa, even places with brutal winters are scoring double what Medford gets.

Why we made this

The original Bike Medford game lets you feel what it's like to bike downtown without safe infrastructure. This new game shows you the bigger picture. Medford isn't just behind Portland or Boulder. We're behind cities half our size that decided to invest in connected bike networks.

The point isn't to dunk on our town. It's to show that better is possible, and that the cities doing it aren't all that different from us.

Play the game, share your high score, and then take action for real.
