The Movement is Growing
Another night at city council to plead our case that the council should reconsider their decision to remove the Main St. bike lane and revert to a three-lane configuration. Folks showed up, including many new faces. There was a rumor that perhaps some opposition would arrive and voice support for removing the bike lane. However, there was none. Everyone who spoke, all 14 speakers, was in support of saving the bike lane. Further, there were over 30 written comments in support of saving it.
You can read the full transcript of all public comments from the meeting.
The survey doesn't hold up
There was an excellent comment that demonstrated the absurdity and unscientific nature of the city's survey on bike lane configurations, which never even validated for city residency:
"Out of the approximately 3,100 non-bot and non-duplicate survey responses, 911 were from outside of the Rogue Valley. That's approximately 29.4% of the entire survey response. Out of those, 359 were from Portland, 105 were from Eugene, 145 were from San Jose, 78 from Seattle. The United Kingdom overwhelmingly preferred option 3. Japan wanted option 2. And Thailand was split evenly between options 1, 2, and 4."
First bug report via city council public comments for Bike Medford Game
We also got our first bug report, submitted as a public comment to city council, no less. One of the written comments read:
"What's up with this game? It's unresponsive to input. No wonder I've died 7 times. Just sayin'."
We hear you, we'll look into it. In the meantime, give it another try.
Keep the pressure on
We all want safe streets and a welcoming city. Please keep letting the city council know that we need them to reconsider their decision. And thank you to everyone who showed up last night!
